Initiating Accreditation

Step 1: Eligibility & Initial Inquiry

Institutions seeking accreditation must first confirm their eligibility by submitting a preliminary inquiry form. ILJSAN will review the legal standing, governance structure, and program offerings of the institution to determine suitability for the accreditation process.

Once eligibility is confirmed, institutions will receive a formal invitation to proceed with the self-assessment stage. This stage marks the beginning of the official accreditation timeline.

Step 2: Application & Documentation

Institutions must submit a full accreditation application along with required documents, including academic catalogs, course outlines, faculty qualifications, assessment systems, governance policies, and strategic plans. Download the accreditation application guide here.

Step 3: Self-Evaluation Report

The applying institution will prepare a comprehensive Self-Evaluation Report (SER), following ILJSAN’s framework. This report must address compliance with our accreditation standards and reflect institutional strengths, challenges, and development plans.

ILJSAN provides training sessions and support materials to help institutions complete the SER accurately and objectively.

Step 4: Site Visit & Peer Review

A team of expert legal educators and quality assurance specialists will conduct an on-site visit to evaluate the institution’s facilities, observe teaching practices, and interview stakeholders including faculty, administrators, and students.

Step 5: Decision & Reporting

Based on the findings from the Self-Evaluation Report and the site visit, the ILJSAN Accreditation Committee will issue a decision. Accreditation may be granted, deferred for additional evidence, or denied with recommendations.
